The birds-eye view of our courtyard taken from our balcony. I was feeling a little cooped up today!!

The view down Zhongshan N. Road (Section 6) from the inside of the Number 612 bus. Taken on my way home from work - the weather was beautiful but stinking hot (34 degrees at half four in the afternoon) and everything had a beautiful golden hue.

As I missed the bus by a whisker at my usual stop I decided to enjoy the good weather and get a bit more exercise by walking down to the Taoyuan Culture and Arts Center stop. This picture is taken from the stop with the Center to the left, looking across the park besides the Center towards Daxing W. Road.

Sunday 23rd May 2010
I've had a very British day today - two walks in the pouring rain and then for dinner I had a new take on bangers and mash. I made the mash from local sweet potatoes and made fritters out of them (nom nom). Of course, top this off with lashings of ketchup and a good cuppa and you have the perfect dinner. Kratos even got a sausage in his dinner, lucky boy!
Saturday 22nd May 2010
This photo was photo of the day as I nearly forgot to take my picture of the day - so since time was of the essence, I took a picture of our clock showing five minutes to midnight. As you can see, this is a well-used clock which has fallen off the wall many times (a word to the wise, 3M hooks don't work in humid countries!!) but still works. Gotta love a hardy time-keeper!

Tuesday May 18th 2010
Photo of the day today was taken at my book club - the first (and hopefully ONLY) book club I have ever shown up to without reading the book. My excuse was my book went missing and then by the time I found it Kratos had shown up thus deleting my available reading time! Ah, well. I promise I will finish it in good time. In the meantime, pass another slice of that gorgeous lemon pie...

Sunday 16th May 2010
Bit of a cheeky one, this - it's a photo of hubby getting his photo of the day! I quite like the effect of it though. We went to the wedding of one of hubby's elementary school classmates and I took this one as we were waiting for the lunch to start (which was very good but HUGE!)

Friday 14th May 2010
Recently, hubby and I have been discussing the possibility of adopting a dog. We both love dogs and have had dogs in our lives pretty much from the word "go" and life without a dog seemed strange and a bit empty. Particularly for me, the main agitator on the 'I want a dog' front. So this morning we went to see a possible puppy in a vet clinic in Taipei, but when we got there she had already been adopted by someone else. So we arranged to meet some other people about adopting a puppy tomorrow afternoon.
So who on earth is that in the photo, you might be asking. Great question. I was casually walking back along our street with a bagload of veges for tonight's dinner when I saw a gorgeous German Shepherd outside of the 7-Eleven. I snapped a quick pic on my phone to show hubby and carried on my merry way, dreaming of the frozen mango desserts I was going to make. I noticed a few metres down the street that the same doggy was on the other side of the road and following a man, who I assumed to be his owner. But the man disappeared and this dog wandered across the road, oblivious to traffic.
To cut a long story short, I called hubby and we have ended up fostering him for a couple of weeks to see if his owner shows up. If not we may have found our puppy for adoption! It seems reasonably likely that someone has gotten sick of taking care of him and ditched him (far far too common in this part of the world) - he's definitely not a street dog.
It's funny what life throws at you sometimes, ain't it?!

Thursday 13th May 2010
This is the only photo I took today and is pretty much indicative of my day. Although it wasn't a bad day, per se, I kept having epic FAIL moments. For example, I rescued an injured street dog - but was wearing the clothes I wanted to wear to a formal function that evening. I remembered to bring my new pantyhose but they were too short for me. I lugged my camera around all day but had left the SD card at home. I got the final proof copy for my book but realised that I had forgotten to change the 9th Edition to 10th Edition on the first page. To top this all off, I got home and suddenly remembered I had left my house keys at work. In Taipei. And hubby wouldn't be home for another hour or so.... oh and my mobile phone was dead too. Yup, it was the 13th alright. So the photo I took of this Blue Screen of Death (taken on Jenni's iPhone - thanks Jenni) is a very apt photo of the day for me. I realised this was the only photo I had taken and giggled. You gotta see the funny side of a BSOD Day.

Wednesday May 12th 2010
Taken after work at Zhongcheng Park in Tianmu. It had been a fairly average day on the weather front but the sun came out and I loved the golden hue that it gave everything.

Woohoo! Check it out - new blender! We finally caved in and bought a Blendtec and this picture is of my first juice attempt: guava, melon and ice. Yum!

Monday May 10th 2010
Taken once I got home, this is photo of the day as this was the first time I wore these shoes (ouch) and it rained very hard. BUT the shoes looked good and I had an umbrella.
Sunday May 9th 2010
Hubby (pictured) and I went for a hike up a local mountain in Nankan and along the way encountered this rather cute wild doggy. Hubster decided to give him some of our muesli bar and the resulting picture was so cute it became my picture of the day.
What's Project 365?
On Saturday, my dear husband told me about Project 365. The basic premise is to take one photo every single day for an entire year - every single day!!! - to document your life and share it publicly. As you can see from the creation of this blog, I was rather taken with this idea, especially given my lovely man had just bought me a shiny new camera which I want to learn how to use properly.
I officially started on Sunday 9th May 2010 (as did my hubby) and have so far taken two of my daily photos. I will try to upload them as often as possible and they will be accompanied by a small description/explanation of why they are my "Photo of the Day".
Here's to a great photographic year!
